Popular YouTube channel Linus Tech Tips (LTT), that is known for tech reviews as well as news, found itself in the middle of a controversy recently when YouTube channel Gamers Nexus posted a video highlighting concerns about content posted by LTT online. And now, a former employee of LTT has said that the work culture at the company was extremely toxic and that she had once cut her leg open so that she could get a day off without being rebuked for it.

The woman, Madison Reeve, had left the company in 2021 and took to Twitter to talk about her time there recently. In the Twitter thread, she also revealed how she was sexually harassed at LTT and that her mental health was being ruined.

In response to Madison's allegations, LTT, in a tweet, said that they are conducting an internal assessment and have brought a third party investigator on board to look into the allegations.

Madison Reeve on working at LTT
Beginning her Twitter (now called X) thread, Reeve wrote that she chose to quit her role at LTT because of its work environment and how it was impacting her mental health. "The number of daily items the Social media role at the time was expected to fill was incredibly high," she added.

Linus Tech Tips began in 2008 and is known for posting review videos, news videos, and more. The channel has over 15.5 million subscribers and has employees under the Linus Media Group banner.

Talking about how the social media role at the time she was working there was excessively demanding, Reeve wrote, "I was expected to post 3 tweets, 2 Instagram posts, and 2 TikToks minimum per day. I was also expected to plan, film, edit, and post 2 Floatplane exclusives per week. This included wrangling people to be in them when they were also all struggling to get their work done."

She added that she was also expected to 'manage, plan, come up with, execute, get approval for, and schedule out all the sponsored content on socials (not including YouTube)'.

Talking about how the company brought her mental health to an 'all-time low', she added that she would never recommend anybody to work there after her experience at the office as a woman.

She then added that when she started speaking up for herself, she was asked to agree to a verbal "no drama contract". Reeve also spoke of being 'grabbed inappropriately' at the office and added that when she reported the issue, she was barred from appearing in videos.

'Was told to calm my t***'
Elaborating on the day-to-day issues that she faced, Madison added that if she tried to report inappropriate behaviour, it was considered tattle taling and that she was termed as a 'tattle tale'. "I was told to calm my t*** and stop being such a b****", she added.

She then said that there was a lot of micromanagement going on during work from home and people could get in trouble for responding to emails just 3 minutes late.

Reeve also revealed that she was reprimanded for taking sick leaves and had once cut her leg open just to get a day off without being shamed for it.

"I purposefully cut my leg open so badly I would have to go to the ER to get it stapled back together. It was genuinely the only way in my mind to take a day off without being harassed for a reason why," she wrote.

Reeve also wrote that she is afraid about how people will react since she has already been called 'dramatic' just because she is a woman.

Linus Tech Tips' response
Responding to Reeve's allegations, LTT took to Twitter to clear its stance and said that it has opened up an investigation in the matter. The company mentioned that they have hired a third-party investigator to look into the allegations made by Reeve.

"We are committed to publishing the findings and implementing any corrective actions that may arise due to this. Thank you for your patience, and please allow us the time necessary to be as thorough as possible in this investigation," LTT wrote.

The company added that Reeve's allegations don't align with the company's values and that they have asked their employees to report any workplace bullying or harassment.
